New Control Panels

I have been in the process of making new control panels. One for the New Paper Mill and one to replace to temporary one at Wiscasset.
In both cases the bleed over from white paint into the black was not acceptable and the new panel just didn't look right.
It would be easier in the long run to re-make the paper mill panel and change some of the holes around for a better layout and then re-paint the other one.
As of this afternoon the new panels were much better and I can start installing them tomorrow. Then once that is done (and programming to the computer) I will have full local control, which will make testing and ops much easier.

  1. The new panel is in and mostly working. One of the tortoise machines is not throwing and it looks like the driver on the board is misbehaving. That will get looked into tomorrow.
Also I hope to leave the main and passing siding on remote for the dispatcher and the Paper Mill itself in local so that I can have a plant operator that doesn’t have to need all of the track all the time. This was one of the things I didn’t like in the old layout. Where the yards were always in manual.

  2. Both control panels are in and working. The Bucksport I/O board has a few drivers bad leaving one turnout inoperable. That can be fixed easily enough.

I do have to look at local vs. remote control at the Paper Mill. I want to leave the main and siding under Dispatch control for the most part and the Mill itself all local for the mill operator to work as much as they can without bothering the Dispatch.
Next up is running trains again and testing the newly installed train.
